Prague Art Week: Meet the Scene
The art festival Prague Art Week is developing Meet the Scene, a programme that brings international curators, cultural managers, critics and other visual arts professionals to Prague. Its second edition, planned for September, aims to further strengthen the international visibility of the Czech visual arts scene, expand its professional contacts and create new opportunities for international cooperation.

About the project
Meet the Scene is an international programme for visual arts professionals, held as part of the Prague Art Week festival. It is intended primarily for international curators, cultural managers, critics, editors, directors of institutions and art collectors. Its aim is to introduce them to the contemporary Prague and Czech visual arts scene at close range and to create conditions for long-term international cooperation.
The programme builds on last year’s pilot edition, which brought two dozen international guests to Prague and showed that personal encounters have a concrete impact: new curatorial contacts, international media outputs and follow-up exhibition projects were established. Meet the Scene thus responds to a long-standing challenge for the Czech visual arts scene — its high quality, but also its still limited international visibility.
At the PPF Foundation, we believe that Czech talent has a place on the world stage. But high-quality work alone is not enough — opportunities, personal encounters and connections that can open the way beyond borders are also important. Meet the Scene brings leading figures from the international art world to Prague and enables them to get to know local artists, institutions and their work directly on site. We consider this kind of connection important for the further development and greater visibility of contemporary Czech art abroad. That is why we decided to support this programme.

The 2026 edition will take place from 23 to 27 September as part of Prague Art Week. For fifteen to twenty international guests, it will offer an intensive professional programme in English. This will include guided visits to major Prague institutions, independent galleries, private collections and artists’ studios. Guests will meet key figures from the local scene and gain a curator-led insight into how it works.
An important part of the programme will also be the Show & Tell networking format at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. It will offer presentations by international and local guests, followed by structured networking designed to support the exchange of experience, the sharing of new ideas and the creation of concrete international projects.
Our support is intended to help secure the participation of international experts and prepare the professional programme. Thanks to it, Meet the Scene can raise the care provided to international guests to an even more professional level and create a stronger foundation for the long-term connection of the Czech art scene with the world.
